SENIORS

Getting started

Of course the main objective is to stay in your current home as long as possible –enjoying the comforts, privacy and special features. There are also some reputable home care service companies available to assist you in staying there comfortably as long as possible.

When this becomes more difficult, the questions and concerns arise: When must I make a move? What are the differences between certain home styles and residences? How will I find a suitable place? How will my life change-what about friends, social events and activities? What will it cost-how can I continue to afford it? What on earth am I going to do with all my furniture and possessions? How can I get help?

Although this is probably the most difficult move in a lifetime, today more than ever, the options for seniors are abundant. Many autonomous seniors decide to downsize into affordable townhomes, condominiums or apartments and others have access to many excellent local, modern, full service (or limited service) senior residences as well as established,  reputable residences and are welcomed and quite happy in their new surroundings after a short period of adjustment – enjoying both new and old friends, social events and activities.

When special care may be required there are particular homes that will be suitable for your needs. Some are government sponsored facilities and others privately administered under government policies and procedures.
